Volunteer Spotlight: Elizabeth Greenberg

Elizabeth Greenberg began her journey with the AVHS in 2022.

She is a woman of many trades, including her many family titles. She is not only a daughter, mother, sister, auntie, and nana, but now also a Hospice volunteer.

Volunteering was always part of Elizabeth's life. When you meet her, you will see she is so energetic and always willing to help wherever she can.

She grew up in a family who cared for their family or people in the community, so helping others is just normal. Elizabeth became a volunteer firefighter when she was 42 years old. She was passionate about serving the community 24/7.

With her wonderful and supportive family by her side, she turned her volunteer position into a full-time career.

Looking back as a retired Firefighter of 15 years, she felt the need to jump right back into community work. But, while sitting back and trying to find out where her journey would take her next, Elizabeth stumbled across a Facebook post from the Alberni Valley Hospice Society.

Elizabeth will tell you that she feels blessed to be part of this beautiful community of volunteers and the Hospice, which helps prepare and uplift her to help community members in need.

She states that she has found a meaningful way to serve her community again, giving her a new meaning in life.

Thank you, Elizabeth, for all your dedication and passion you provide to staff and fellow volunteers and, most importantly, to the residents/clients in our community. We are very grateful for your unconditional love toward everyone you meet and connect with.
