The Coulson Group and The San Group Present Light Up Hospice

We are delighted to announce that our newest fundraising event, Light Up Hospice, is being supported by several Alberni Valley businesses and entrepreneurs.

When we first came up with the idea to decorate our community office for the holiday season, we wanted to find a way to make our efforts meaningful.

At Hospice we know that the holiday season is filled with long standing family traditions and for those who have suffered the loss of a loved one, trying to balance the festivities of the holiday season and the sadness experienced when reminiscing about those who have passed away can be heartbreaking. 

We understand your grief, and this year, in addition to offering our grief and bereavement services to anyone in need, we are taking things a step further and decided to create a stunning holiday display that we hope will lift the spirits for everyone in our community and particularly anyone experiencing a loss.

We were positive that the residents of Port Alberni would embrace Light Up Hospice, but we didn’t know how we were going to bring this new event to our community.

To our great fortune, long-term Port Albernians Suzan and Wayne Coulson of the Coulson Group have stepped forward to become our Title sponsor and are helping us launch our inaugural event. 

The Coulson Group have long been involved in philanthropic work and are passionate about building awareness and supporting local charities and non-profit organizations in the Alberni Valley. From raising funds to buy new equipment and uniforms for our high school sports teams, rebuilding the Alberni Athletic Hall, to sponsoring dozens of families over the Christmas season via the Salvation Army’s Adopt-a-Family program.

When the Coulson Group learned about Light Up Hospice they immediately recognized the spirit of our event and offered to become our Title Sponsor.  The generosity of the Coulsons did not stop at their sponsorship; Wayne and Suzan offered to reached out to other members of the local business community to help build awareness and gain support for our event.

Much to our delight, with the help of the Coulson Group other local businesses and individual entrepreneurs have come forward to support our event.

All of us at Hospice wish to express our gratitude to Wayne and Suzan for their ongoing philanthropic support of our society and other Alberni Valley charities they have supported throughout the years.

We invite you to visit our community office in the evening, December 1–31 to enjoy our festive display, and to make a donation in memory of a loved one who has passed by sponsoring a set of lights, a wreath, stars and other beautiful holiday décor items.
