The Coulson Group and The San Group Present Light Up Hospice

Local businessman Mike Hudson, owner of the Port Boat House, has pursued many interests in his life – a long time sports and outdoor enthusiast, university educated with a degree in Economics, attaining a Charted Accountant designation, securing a long term role as VP Finance for an international financial services retail chain – and, in 2005, acquiring Port Boat House, are just some of the impressive milestones in Mike’s history.

Born in Alert Bay, Mike spent his formative years in Port Alberni and is a graduate of ADSS. As an active youth he played minor hockey and fastpitch and continues to play hockey with the local Old Puckers team.

Fishing and boating are Mike’s other passions and it is his enthusiasm for marine related activities that allows him to be so successful operating Port Boat House and creating lifetime experiences to like-minded people who love being on the water.

Port Boat House has a long history of supporting local events and charities. Their emphasis over the years has been salmon enhancement through sponsorship of various fishing derbies and the Pacific Salmon Foundation. They are also lead sponsors of the Alberni Golf Charity Classic whose fundraising benefits many different local charities.

Mike has often attended the Black Ty Gala and generously provided items for the silent auction. This year, with all of the hospice fundraising events being canceled due to COVID-19, Mike decided to make a cash contribution as part of his ongoing support of our society. We are delighted that the Port Boat House has become one of our Supporting Sponsors for the new Light Up Hospice fundraiser that takes place for the entire month of December.

Like so many members of the community, the Hudson family have had friends with family members that were provided care at Ty Watson House, and all have expressed how grateful they are for the patient and family services available through our society.
